When Pluto Returns…

America’s Pluto return is here. This is similar to how we say “happy Solar return” when it is your birthday to indicate the Sun has returned to your astrological Sun sign. Pluto has returned to the astrological sign and degree it was in for America’s birth chart.
Pluto rules the underworld and all that is hidden (what everyone wants to stay hidden) - the things that have gone to die. But just like a zombie apocalypse, the dead returns and the things that are hidden in the dark must come to light - literally. When Pluto enters an area, it actually uncovers those things that have been buried, forgotten and left to die. I liken it to finally opening that box you haven’t opened since you moved in or cleaning out all the way in the back of your closet.
As one of the natural rulers of Scorpio, it shines light on the low vibrational Scorpion energy - i.e., secretiveness, untrustworthiness, cancel culture, controlling situations- bringing it to the forefront. With the South node in Scorpio for the next 18 months, this is exactly the type of low vibrational attributes we should be leaving behind. In my opinion, America is being asked to do shadow work. Though Scorpios live for change, it is the type of life-changing transformation that requires walking through fire - slowly, painfully - until you can emerge as the phoenix.
Pluto in Capricorn brings to mind the Devil card from the tarot (see below). America and its oppressive systems/mentality is what the two people feel chained to - forced to be in a co-dependent, addictive relationship with each other and the systems that keep them oppressed. One of the main meanings attributed to the card is that the chains are an illusion. The people have the ability to shake them off at any time - they just have to choose not to be chained any longer.

It makes complete sense that this Black “History” month feels different than ever before. Fake “wokeness” and forced consumerism is being called out and we are transforming our perspective, aiming for higher goals of what it means to celebrate Black culture (Black Future Month, focusing on rest and self-care and keeping the dollars/coins within the community). The North node in Taurus energy brings that desire for true sustenance, nurturing what is to come and leaving all that no longer serves Black culture behind. But I digress…
Pluto moves slowly and does a thorough job. When it cleans house, it usually means it’s time to rebuild from scratch. It will begin transiting through the degree in America’s chart on 2/22/2022. Coincidence? I think not. This portal time period means we can expect some major shifts to happen both on a national and personal scale. The Universe has a way of bringing karmic balance in mysterious ways. With Pluto in Saturn-ruled Capricorn, it is only right that even a country can’t escape the Lord of Karma. We have already seen that control is hard to give up; the recent (alleged) news of social media platforms wanting to ban astrology and tarot content is a perfect example of a Pluto in Capricorn-influenced attempt to maintain control.
Will America be able to become like its national bird, the Eagle and soar to new heights or remain like a scorpion crushed by its crumbling systems? It will all remain to be seen. Either way, the winds of change are upon us.
